Nigeria is among the nations in the world with the highest number of people practicing Open Defecation, estimated at over 46 million people. The practice has had a negative effect on the populace especially children in the area of health and education and had contributed to the country’s failure to meet the MDG target. To this end, the Ministry of Water Resources developed a national road map that provided a guide towards achieving an ODF Nigeria. Due to this, GCCYF participated in a research organized by Society for water and Sanitation (NEWSAN) where our team was part of the enumerators that went round FCT to ascertain the state of our toilet and hand washing facilities.
